Our vineyard and winery represent the culmination of nearly 6 years of hard work, patience, and persistence. Since 2001, our dream and vision has been to build a small San Diego mountain winery in Warner Springs that offers an incredibly intimate wine tasting experience. In April 2008 our dream became a reality as we proudly opened Hawk Watch Winery to the public. Our wines are hand-crafted from only the finest fruit using hands-on, old world wine making techniques. Each bottle truly represents the excitement and enthusiasm we have for premium wine making, and the passion and obsession we have for viticulture. A stone’s throw from both Julian and Temecula, we invite you to take a short, scenic drive through the mountains of Northern San Diego County and stop by our tasting room. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Mike & Lisa Schnell [read more]

About the Founders In early 2011 David and Janine Lowe took their passion for wine to the next level and Sierra Roble Winery and Vineyard was born. They purchased several acres near their home on the northeast slope of Palomar Mountain. 2000 vines were ordered, and the dream began to take shape. In mid-2012, the new property was planted with Bordeaux grapes from the following Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Shortly thereafter, the tasting room and winery were built, welcoming friends, family, and fellow wine lovers. David's spirit lives on in every bottle, and every vine. His dedication, warmth, and vision helped create something truly special, a legacy that continues to grow. Current Koby Loosen, driven by his passion for farming and winemaking, partnered with longtime friend and former UC Davis roommate, Bob Rosales, to bring a new chapter to Sierra Roble. In September 2022 the Loosen Family proudly assumed responsibility for Sierra Roble Winery, bringing with them a commitment to organic farming and sustainable winemaking. In addition to the Bordeaux wines, they introduced wines crafted from their certified organic vineyard, featuring Rhône and Sicilian varietals grown in the mountainous region of De Luz, located in the western hills of Temecula. We are proud to share that Sierra Roble Vineyards was certified organic in the Spring of 2025. Come visit our tasting room, you might find Koby and Bob there, ready to share a viticulture experience with you. [read more]
